Your Upcoming Hunt

You’re coming to hunt with us! Now what?

Flights:

Fly into Juneau, Alaska from your location. Alaska Airlines is the only airlines that flies into Juneau at that time of year.

If your hunt is at Gull Cove:

Fly from Juneau on a seaplane chartered to Gull Cove. Refer to Atlin for more information on scheduling.

If overnight is needed we recommend: Four Points Hotel. This is a great location with surrounding restaurants and they are very accommodating to hunters as they have a walk in freezer available for their customers.


Hunting and Fishing LicenseMetal Locking Tag and Permit:

This information will be going through https://www.adfg.alaska.gov

 1. Get a Nonresident Hunting License

2. Get a 7-Day Fishing License

3. Get a Nonresident Metal Locking Tag for Brown Bear

For this section of information:

i. Atlin Daugherty from Douglas, Alaska is your Guide

ii. Use your Hunting License Number

4. When you receive number from metal locking tag, go back online and get a Registration Permit for:

Chichagof Island Hunt

  1. Unit 4 RB089 (Spring Inside Drainages)

  2. Unit 4 RB088 (Spring Outside Drainages)

  3. Unit 4 RB077 (Fall Unit 4 Inside & Outside Drainages)

Mainland Hunt

  1. Unit 1 Brown Bear: RB072 & RB073

  2. Unit 1 Black Bear: (Harvest Ticket & Metal Locking Tag)

i. These are for the Inside units and outside units, the areas you will be hunting.

6. Bring with you and DO NOT LOSE the hunting license, metal tag, and the two permits


What to Wear: Gear List

Alaska Trip Packing List (Disclaimer: Washer and Dryer at lodge so you can do laundry whenever)

  • Headlamp & Flashlight

  • 1 Pair chest high waders (highly recommended, rubber soles, no felt)

  • 1 Rain jacket with hood

  • 1 rain pants

  • 1 pair high quality rain boots

  • 1 Pair polyester polar fleece pile wading pants or “expedition” wt. long-john bottoms ***

  • 1 Pair camp shoes. Sneakers, or Light hikers

  • 1 Med-Heavy polar fleece hoody jacket

  • 1 light insulated fleece vest

  • 2-3 Sets hvy. wt. Poly-pro long underwear ***

  • 1-2 Long sleeve shirt, synthetic non-cotton

  • 2-3 T-shirt, lodge wear

  • 2 or more pair gloves light and heavy, at least one water proof pair

  • 1 pr. per day, med-heavy, wool-blend or polypro socks (hint “Smartwool” or Merino). Socks labeled “wading, hiking, or trekking). No Cotton!

  • 1 Cap w/bill for sunshade, and ski cap for cold

  • 1 “Fuzzy” mid weight polar fleece ski hat for wind & cool days.

  • 1 Toiletries kit

  • 1 week worth Boxer shorts, underwear

  • 1 Pocket or belt knife, Swiss army etc. As TSA allows.

  • Binoculars

  • 1 Box Bullets Minimum

  • Required Licenses (Metal Locking Tag, Hunting License, ect.)

  • Heavy Duty 100lbs Dry Bag for Bear Hide

  • Check Book

  • Any Wanted Alcohol for the trip (must be brought with or bought in Juneau)

  • Cash for Gratuity (10% Recommended)


Shipping Of Hides (Options)

  1. Bring Bear Hide back yourself

    • Return to Juneau, before leaving the State of Alaska you must seal the bear with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, in person. The ADF&G Office is located on Douglas Island, 20 minute drive from Juneau Airport. This will take around an hour. From here, you can go to UPS or FEDEX next to the airport and ship home from there, or fly home with it.

  2. Request for Atlin to Handle Shipping through Alaska Air Cargo

    • After the harvest, once the bear is prepared for taxidermy, transfer-of-possession paperwork can be signed for you to leave your hide with Atlin. At the end of May, Atlin will bring hide back to town and get it sealed and shipped to your location (Closest Alaska Air Cargo Location).
